Since graduating with first class Honours from The University of Queensland in 2004, Dr Melinda Smith has worked in the field of musculoskeletal physiotherapy across several private practices in Brisbane and Canberra. Melinda received an NHMRC Public Health Postgraduate Research Scholarship. Undertaking her studies within the Physical Therapies Department at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra, Melinda’s doctoral research earned a University of Queensland Dean’s Award for Research Higher Degree Excellence.

Melinda’s current research continues to focus on neuromuscular control and function of the lower limb. Interested in the application of her work to the arena of sports, Melinda is involved in muscle imbalance and sports projects as part of the lumbo-pelvic stability program. She has published in a number of leading international sports science journals such as Sports Medicine, Medicine and Science in Sports and Exercise, and the British Journal of Sports Medicine.
