The Heart of Inequality Report

At the whole population level, cardiovascular disease, including its most common form, heart disease, generates the largest disease burden in Australia and is responsible for over one fifth of all deaths. However, this substantial and growing burden is not shared equally among Australian men and women.

This report highlights The MacKillop’s collective work in investigating heart health disparities among disadvantaged individuals and communities. It also highlights our ongoing efforts to develop and apply innovative strategies that will reduce key inequalities in the ‘heart health’ of vulnerable individuals/communities.
